Playing By Ear is an interactive musical management game. Keep your choir in the correct musical scale and maintain unity in sound.

Story

The toys from your childhood got brought to life somehow, and they decided to form a band. the problem is: they are kinda bad.  Sometimes they play out of tune or sometimes the guitarist Roo puts on too much distortion.

Manage their lack of talent! Correct their mistakes by turning the knobs on the respective pedal, or give them a burst of focus by tapping on their hologram-ball.

NOTE:

The game was made for the Game Maker's Toolkit 2024 Jam, it may have bugs (computer ones!) and that's OK. For any game-breaking issues, feel free to comment below.

How To Play

Your goal is to make sure all the band members are playing in the correct musical scale. You accomplish this through two knobs on each character. By waving the mouse towards the bottom of the screen, you can see a pedal with two knobs. Each knob has two lights, when a light is on, the knob is adjusted correctly. When the light is off, the knob is incorrect. Adjust the knob to correctly get the band member back into the correct musical scale.

Or you can parry their mistakes! Avoid having to adjust them entirely by successfully tapping them when they begin shaking! make sure to do it when sparks come out!

The levels increase in difficulty from top to bottom.
